April 26, 2025 - Palo Pinto County on Tour

A self-paced historical & wildflower driving tour sponsored by the Palo Pinto County Historical Commission. This event is held every two years in odd numbered years. Tickets are available on tour day at all tour locations and also sold in advance. Check back in early spring 2025 for a list of tour sites and more information or follow Facebook/Palo Pinto County Historical Commission.

The last county tour was held April 2023 and included the following historic sites:
Magpie Inn and Crazy Water Hotel in Mineral Wells; Oran/Black Springs; Old Jail Museum and First Christian Church in Palo Pinto; Lovers Retreat, west of Palo Pinto; and Worth Ranch, north of Palo Pinto.

Museums Open Throughout The Year

Palo Pinto County Old Jail Museum – 231 South 5th Ave., Palo Pinto, TX
Open 1st weekend of March through 2nd weekend of December.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free admission.

Strawn Historical Museum – 119 E. North Front St., Strawn, TX
Open Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Free admission.
Tours of the recently renovated Texas & Pacific train depot are also available during museum hours.
